If the slab under your deck is solid, you can usually resurface it: a new surface over the old concrete, with no tear-out. If sections have sunk, lifted or broken apart, those get fixed first, or the new surface cracks along with the old slab.
We'll look at your deck and tell you which it needs.
What does it cost to resurface a pool deck?
These are published market estimates, not our prices. No cost guide publishes a Brevard figure yet, so each source is labeled.
| Job | Typical market range | Source (checked Sep 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Resurfacing an existing concrete deck | $3–$12 per sq ft · about $1,500–$10,800 for a 500–900 sq ft deck | HomeGuide national cost guide, Jul 2025 |
| Resurfacing, Florida-focused estimate | $4–$15 per sq ft · about $1,600–$6,000 for a 400 sq ft deck | Linked Concrete (Florida contractor-matching site), Aug 2026 |
| Full tear-out and new deck | about $15–$25 per sq ft | Linked Concrete (Florida contractor-matching site), Aug 2026 |

Here's what moves your number: the size of the deck, the repairs needed before resurfacing, the finish you pick, and whether the slab has to come out.
Resurface, repair or replace?
Resurfacing usually works when the surface is faded, stained or rough, the cracks are thin and not growing, and water drains away from the pool.
It needs more than a new surface when:
- A section has sunk and left an edge you can trip on. It can often be lifted with foam instead of replaced.
- Cracks keep growing, or one side sits higher than the other.
- Pieces are loose or broken out. Those get cut out and repoured (concrete repair).
- Water pools on the deck or runs toward the pool.
A new surface over a moving slab doesn't last, because the cracks come back through it. So we fix the cause first. If a deck really needs replacing, we'll say so.
What's the best surface for a Florida pool deck?
One that stays cool enough for bare feet, grips when wet, and holds up to sun and pool water. A Florida-focused cost guide reports:
| Finish | What it's like | Typical market range (resurfacing) |
|---|---|---|
| Spray texture / knockdown | Textured, good grip | $4–$7 per sq ft |
| Cool-deck coating | Made to stay cooler underfoot | $5–$9 per sq ft |
| Stamped overlay | The look of stone, tile or brick | $7–$12 per sq ft |

Building a new deck? We pour plain broom-finish, stamped or stained concrete. Whatever the finish, lighter colors stay cooler in July.
We install all three resurfacing finishes in the table. We use high-quality finishes and products made for pool decks, and we'll tell you exactly what goes on yours.
Is painting a pool deck a good idea?
It's the cheapest way to change the color, and the one you'll redo most often. Sun, pool water and bare feet wear paint down, and plain paint can get slick when wet.
If your deck is solid and you only need it to look better for a season, paint can buy time. If you want a surface that lasts, a resurfacing finish made for pool decks is the better spend. We'll tell you which makes sense for yours.
What happens on a pool deck job?
- We look first: cracks, sunken sections, and where the water goes when it rains.
- Repairs come first. We fill cracks, lift or replace sunken sections, and fix any slope toward the pool.
- Prep and finish. The old surface is cleaned and roughed up so the new finish bonds, then the textured finish goes down.
- Back in use. This depends on the product. As an example, one manufacturer's data sheet for an acrylic deck coating lists 48 hours before the deck goes back into use. We'll confirm the timing for your finish before we start.
You get a written quote (itemized if you'd like) that names the finish and the repairs included.
Florida weather can affect concrete scheduling, so leave a little room in your plans.
Frequently asked questions
Are these your prices?
No. They're published market estimates, and we list the source for each one. Your actual price comes from a free estimate.
How long before we can use the deck?
For a resurfacing coating, it depends on the product (see above). For a newly poured concrete deck, industry guidance is to wait at least 24 hours before walking on it (Concrete Network). We'll confirm the timing for your job before we start.
Do you build new concrete pool decks too?
Yes. Our own crew handles resurfacing, repairs and new pool decks.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on your city and the scope of the work. If your job needs one, we handle getting it. If you're in an HOA, check its color and material rules first.
Send us a few photos of your deck.
Two or three phone photos are enough. We'll tell you whether it looks like resurfacing, repair or replacement, then set up a free estimate for your real number.
