Your driveway is solid. It just looks tired.

Oil stains that won't wash out. A surface that's flaking or pitted. A finish that faded years ago.

Tearing out a solid slab because of how it looks is a lot of money for concrete that's still doing its job. That's what resurfacing is for.

What is concrete resurfacing?

Resurfacing bonds a thin new layer over your existing concrete. You get a new surface without a new slab. You'll also hear it called concrete restoration or an overlay.

  1. Check the slab. Is it level, in one piece, and sitting on a solid base?
  2. Clean and prep. Pressure washing, stain removal, and taking off loose or flaking concrete. The overlay only holds as well as the prep.
  3. Fix the cracks first. Small cracks get repaired before anything goes on top.
  4. Apply and finish the overlay.

The overlay can be plain or decorative. We install broom-finish, spray texture (knockdown), color or stain, and stamped overlays.

Is resurfacing concrete worth it?

It is when the problem is on top of the slab, not underneath it.

Resurfacing is usually a good fit when:

  • The slab is level and in one piece.
  • The damage is on the surface: flaking, pitting, stains, or a dated finish.
  • Any cracks are small and not moving.

Resurfacing isn't the right fix when:

  • The slab sank or tilted. It needs leveling first, or the new surface sits on the same problem.
  • Cracks are wide or still moving. They come back through a thin overlay. That's repair first.
  • The slab is broken all over or the base has failed. That's a new driveway.
  • It's a pool deck. Pool decks have their own finishes, so see pool deck resurfacing.

A new surface over a moving crack is money spent twice. We'll tell you which one you have before you spend anything.

How much does it cost to resurface concrete?

These are published market estimates, not our prices. No major cost guide publishes a Florida or Brevard figure for resurfacing, so the main figures are national.

JobTypical market rangeSource (checked Sep 2026)
Basic resurfacingabout $3–$5 per sq ft (up to $9 with extensive damage repair)Angi national cost guide, updated Jul 2026
Stamped or decorative overlayabout $7–$20 per sq ftAngi national cost guide, updated Jul 2026
Whole project$600–$13,000; about $2,000 on averageAngi national cost guide, updated Jul 2026

Florida-focused guides report about $4–$8 per sq ft for a stained overlay and $8–$15 for a stamped overlay (Linked Concrete, Florida, Jul 2026).

Here's what moves your number:

  • Size. Square footage drives most of it.
  • Repair first. Cracks and flaking that have to be fixed before the overlay.
  • Finish. Plain costs less than colored or stamped.
  • Prep. Deep oil stains and old sealers take more work to remove.

Resurfacing skips the tear-out, the haul-away and the new pour, which is where the savings come from. On a slab with a failing base, those savings don't last.

What can be resurfaced?

  • Driveways. Driveways are the most common job: oil stains, tire marks and flaking where the sprinklers hit.
  • Patios. The surface is faded or pitted, but the slab itself is fine.
  • Walkways. The surface is worn, but the path is level. If the edges are raised enough to trip on, see sidewalk and walkway repair instead.

Want a pattern poured into a new slab instead? See stamped concrete.

Frequently asked questions

Are these your prices?

No. They're published market estimates, and we list the source. Your actual price comes from a free estimate.

How much does it cost to resurface a driveway?

National guides put basic resurfacing at about $3–$5 per sq ft and decorative overlays at $7–$20 (Angi, Jul 2026). Size, repairs and finish decide where yours lands. Actual project pricing requires a free estimate.

Can you resurface over cracks?

Small, stable cracks, yes, after they're repaired. Cracks that are still moving will show back through the new surface.

Does resurfacing fix a sunken driveway?

No. It changes the surface, not the level. A sunken slab gets lifted first.

How soon can I use it?

It depends on the overlay product. We'll give you the manufacturer's time for your job before we start. Weather can affect concrete scheduling, and overlays need a dry day.

Send us a photo of the worn surface.

Take one photo of the whole slab and one close-up. We'll tell you whether it looks like resurfacing, repair or something else, then set up a free estimate. You'll get a written quote, itemized if you'd like.
